I don’t believe in luck.
There is no such thing. It is a word that someone uses to describe an
event that happened to their life. According to wikipedia, luck or fortunity
is good fortune which occurs beyond one’s control, without regard to
one’s will, intention, or desired result. Dictionary.com says that luck
is the force that seems to operate for good or ill in a person’s life,
as in shaping circumstances, events, or opportunities. Luck could be
either good or bad. Anything good that could happen to someone’s life
could be consider “Good Luck” and of course, “Bad Luck” is the exact
opposite. The difference of what is good and bad would depend on how
someone will see a situation.
Let me try to site a good example.
Think of this scenario, this could happen in real life or not. I just want to emphasize how can a person describe this as good or bad luck. Think of a company raffle, one employee can only win once. The first prize he will get would be also the last. Let us say that Employee A got a minor prize. Usually, the grand prize is drawn at the end of the event. Winning in a raffle, good or bad? Of course, Good! If possible, in joining a raffle, we want to have more than one entry for a higher chance of winning. Here is the twist, his name was picked again to win the grand prize which is way better than what he already has. Good or bad? It depends on the person. For some they would say its bad because he didn’t get the grand prize because of the rule. He can’t return the minor prize to get the grand prize because its a rule. His name was picked twice, what’s bad about it?
Another good example is when someone was involved in an accident. If that person survive they will say, "he's lucky that he survived!" How can you be really lucky when you got involved in an accident? Wouldn't you be luckier you weren't involved? I hope I made a point here.
When we acknowledge luck because of what happened to us, it seems that we disregard that someone up there who is fully control in our lives. Not everything is good, that is true but everything is according to God’s plan and will. Whether it is good or bad, it is included in God’s plan. It is better to say “I’m not lucky, I’m blessed”.
