less of me, More of JESUS

Normally, a person would think about things that are beneficial to him and we often forget about God. We sometimes forget that all of the things that are happening into our lives is because of our creator. This blog is intended for all who wants to be more like Christ. To think more about him and less about himself. Come and join me as we walk together with Jesus to this journey called life.

I will do all I can to update this blog from time to time. This will contain my own articles, videos, music, articles written by different authors, inspirational story and a lot more. Anything about Jesus.

This is not all about me, this is all about Him.

When the King of Kings treated like a someone else

Around 2009, one of the network giant in the Philippines launch a TV series about a little boy who has a strong faith with Jesus. This show teaches its viewer to depend on God at times of need by means of praying. I am not an avid fan of this show. Though the said TV series demonstrate how to do good to other people there is one thing I couldn't tolerate. That is when this little boy called Jesus "Bro".

Technically Jesus is our brother because He is son of God the Father, and we are children of God but I don't think it appropriate to call him "Bro". It is disrespectful. Even the king of england wouldn't want to be called Bro by his siblings. While indeed Jesus is our friend, I could not call my King "Bro". I could not treat him as one of my brother. He deserves an utmost respect more than what we can give to any human being. He is our savior, He is our God. John 1:1 John 1:14 John 20:28 Titus 2:13 2 Peter 1:1

After that show, many TV series with the same plot emerged. Like this show, the goal is to attract more viewers. Jesus was even called "Boss" or in tagalog "Bossing". There is one comedian actor also called Bossing. Do you give name to a God same with a human? Well, He is really our Boss. He is the only one should control our lives. He should be the center of our life. But the term Boss is too informal and is not appropriate to be used for a God. We call our earthly master "Boss" during a casual conversation not during formal meetings.

This is the worst label that can anyone give to Jesus. Kuya Jess. While watching this show on a bus, there is this priest in a TV show called "Pare Koy". This is the latest show of one of the network giant in the Philippines. I don't watch this series. The scene is about this priest giving encouragement to a little girl. I could not disagree with the good advice he has given to this little girl. He is right when he said that God will never let us down.

Then her friends came to pick her up and had a conversation with her. She told them that she is well and she has nothing to worry about because of Kuya Jess. Even her friends were surprised and asked who Kuya Jess was. Then this priest explained that he is referring to Jesus. The script writer of this show just gave a nickname to Jesus and even called Him Kuya?

It is a culture in the Philippines to call an older man "Kuya". It is especially used for your older brother.

Calling Jesus bro, bossing is not appropriate. Calling Him Kuya Jess is the worst! You might say, I'm overacting. You might say it is just a show. But a show can have a big impact to its viewer. Jesus is the name above all names. Philippians 2:9 Why change it to Jess? No one is authorized to change His name. While God looks at our hearts, if you pray to Kuya Jess, you are not praying to Jesus. The danger of this is you are teaching the viewers to call on a different person rather than to call on Jesus.

Excerpt from Gotquestions.org:

Why is the question over Jesus’ true identity so important? Why does it matter whether or not Jesus is God? The most important reason that Jesus has to be God is that if He is not God, His death would not have been sufficient to pay the penalty for the sins of the whole world (1 John 2:2). Only God could pay such an infinite penalty (Romans 5:8;2 Corinthians 5:21). Jesus had to be God so that He could pay our debt. Jesus had to be man so He could die. Salvation is available only through faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus’ deity is why He is the only way of salvation. Jesus’ deity is why He proclaimed, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ Matthew 7:12-23

People nowadays don't know the real meaning of respect. They post something online and add a hashtag for respect. So that is how they earn respect. Where respect cannot be given easily to anyone unless you have proven yourself that is worthy of it. Meanwhile in the Philippines, 2 network giants try to come up with a show that will generate millions of viewers and would do anything just to make this show leave a mark to their avid viewers.

Please don't ever call Jesus with other names. If you want to call Him with other names, use the appropriate ones such as Lord, Savior, Lamb of God, Prince of Peace, Kings of kings and many more that can be found on this link: http://www.gotquestions.org/names-Jesus-Christ.html
